Candles are certain to be a part of your tablescape this Christmas, and if they aren’t, they should be! So many stunning festive tablescapes put candlelight centre stage to ensure the perfect place for entertaining, with the warm, ambient glow of a candle creating the relaxing holiday vibe we all want to enjoy on Christmas Day.
Whether picking candles for your Christmas tablescape or for the comedown after, don’t compromise on quality. Beeswax candles really are the best choice, here’s why!
Beeswax smells great
While shop shelves are filled with powerful, artificially fragranced candles, there really is nothing better than the natural scent of beeswax. The subtly sweet, earthy smell is a joy to have in any space, with its gorgeous glow equally as mesmerising.
With our beeswax candles there’s no need for anything artificial, with the colours and scents of our creations as nature intended.
Beeswax is eco-friendly
We love renewable resources here at So Cosy. It’s one of the reasons why we use natural fibres like wool to craft our designs. Another material that everyone who’s eco conscious can get on board with is beeswax. Here Wise Beekeeping shares more information about just how eco-friendly beeswax is:
“Beeswax candles are a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional candles. They are made from a renewable resource, beeswax, which is produced by honeybees. The process of harvesting beeswax is non-destructive and does not harm the bee population. Beeswax is a natural and biodegradable material that does not release harmful chemicals into the environment when burned.”
When compared with the paraffin wax widely used throughout the candle market, beeswax is by far the sustainable choice. Paraffin is after all derived from petroleum, which is non-renewable and releases harmful chemicals into the air – but more on that later!

Beeswax is non-toxic
The problem with paraffin wax is that when burnt, harmful toxins are released into the air. This includes carcinogens and allergens that are dangerous to human health. There are no such problems with beeswax candles however, which are safe, non-toxic and air purifying. As a result, beeswax candles burn cleaner and reduce air pollution to ensure a healthier home for all.
Beeswax benefits communities
By buying beeswax, you’re supporting the small businesses and local producers that are so important to our economy.
Our candles are lovingly handmade using beeswax sourced from local farmers, and each one is delightfully unique. The colour of our beeswax candles varies, with everything from bright yellow shades to darker tones of brown seen in our collection.
Beeswax candles last longer
The average beeswax candles burn much slower than mass-produced paraffin alternatives, meaning you can enjoy the warm, cosy glow of our all-natural candles for even longer.
Our Handcrafted Big Beeswax Candle for example burns for around 60 hours, while the smaller version burns for 35 hours in total. Even our Handmade Slim Beeswax Birthday Candles boast a burn time of 30 minutes per candle. Beeswax candles also drip less and produce a reduced amount of soot. Our use of 100% cotton wicks guarantees a cleaner and more consistent burn too.
You may need to give your beeswax candle a helping hand to ensure a more even burn. Trimming is required if brims begin to form on your candle. Alternatively, the top edges of the candle can be folded gently while the wax is still soft to keep the candle symmetrical.
