Our Picnic range of picnic blankets is dual-sided blankets, with the upper side crafted in our un-dyed soft brown 100% Merino Wool, and the ground side in waterproof British-made waxed cotton in Dusky Green colour. We collaborated with The Mill based in Scotland, to provide the extremely durable and convenient waxed cotton ground side. Understanding that outdoor blankets get dirty sometimes, they are hand-washable in warm water, erasing any need for dry cleaning.
The foldaway design easily and neatly folds in on itself into a compact carry shape and is secured with a metal press stud. With integrated straps and pockets on each side for books or drinks, this is functional and cool at its best.

About Waxed Cotton Fabric
Waxed cotton — the original performance fabric — is cotton which has been treated with a wax coating to produce a fabric which has water-repellent properties. These waxes can be made from a number of sources — from paraffin and petroleum to natural waxes and innovative hybrid blends.
Waxes and oils are naturally occurring substances found in leaves, bean/seed coverings, animal furs and feathers. It is nature’s protection against the elements.
Waxed garments can be regularly reproofed to maintain performance for many years, making them uniquely sustainable. Many synthetic man-made fabrics end up in land fill once performance levels cannot be maintained through delamination.
Unlike PFC chemistry, which has been produced to give hydrophobic effects, Â waxes offer this barrier naturally. There is therefore less impact on the environment using waxes as a water repellent.
Our petroleum jelly and paraffin waxes are bi-products from cracking crude oil to make fuels such as gasoline. meaning we make use of the waste product of this process. The processes used to apply the waxes to a cotton fabric are also low impact, meaning we do less damage to the environment than many established manufacturing methods.
Our waxes are fully biodegradable; PFC’s are extremely persistent in the environment.
