Welcome to So Cosy, where our journey to create the perfect picnic blanket began with a desire for a high-quality, durable, and classy picnic blanket for our outdoor adventures. When we couldn’t find what we were looking for, we decided to create it ourselves. Our vision was clear: a product made from natural, biodegradable, and sustainable materials that would be both comfortable and long-lasting.
We searched the world for the best materials, and after much searching, we discovered a Scottish mill established in 1864 that specialized in wax cotton fabrics. This was the perfect material for our picnic blankets, which we wanted to be both durable and sustainable. We then found the perfect weight and natural wool tweed at a mill in Portugal that specializes in natural wool fabrics.
With these materials, we crafted our first sample picnic blanket, made some adjustments, and produced the first batch. The results were fantastic, and we received excellent feedback from our customers. This motivated us to continue improving our product, and we believe that we have created the best picnic blanket in the world.

About our Waxed Cotton Picnic Blanket
Waxed cotton — the original performance fabric — is cotton that has been treated with a wax coating to produce a fabric that has water-repellent properties. These waxes can be made from a number of sources — from paraffin and petroleum to natural waxes and innovative hybrid blends.
Waxes and oils are naturally occurring substances found in leaves, bean/seed coverings, animal furs and feathers. It is nature’s protection against the elements.
Waxed garments can be regularly reproofed to maintain performance for many years, making them uniquely sustainable. Many synthetic man-made fabrics end up in landfills once performance levels cannot be maintained through delamination.
Unlike PFC chemistry, which has been produced to give hydrophobic effects, waxes offer this barrier naturally. There is therefore less impact on the environment using waxes as a water repellent.
Our petroleum jelly and paraffin waxes are bi-products from cracking crude oil to make fuels such as gasoline. meaning we make use of the waste product of this process. The processes used to apply the waxes to a cotton fabric are also low impact, meaning we do less damage to the environment than many established manufacturing methods.
Our waxes are fully biodegradable; PFC’s are extremely persistent in the environment.
